About this Event
Free EventThe quantity and severity of extreme weather events associated with climate change continues to challenge all sectors of society. Given the apparent incapacity of private and public institutions in confronting flooding, extreme heat, energy system failures, drought, wildfires, hurricanes and typhoons, just to name a few, communities are organizing across geographical, disciplinary, sectors, and identities to develop innovative and collaborative pathways to community resilience. In the first CCRRIA Conference, we explored community resilience imaginaries, particularly the characteristics, dimensions, and conditions in which vulnerable communities face, respond and recover from these extreme events... What approaches, processes and organizational innovations can help us bring the imaginaries generated in the first CCRRIA Conference into actionable pathways to resilience? How can communities of practice flourish around some of the most intractable problems the RGV and the world are facing today? And ultimately, how can we, as members of communities of interest ourselves, converge in a collective vision of community resilience? This, our CCRRIA’s Second Annual Conference seeks to offer a “workference” atmosphere geared to assist communities leading communities with the objective of developing pathways to community resilience. Through a series of convergence workshops, discussion panels and inspirational keynotes, UTRGV again becomes a platform for the convergence of university knowledge and community wisdom. Come join us!
