Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - Martial Arts Practice

Join us to learn techniques in the martial art of Brazilian JiuJitsu and live grappling rounds!

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be very effective in many self-defense situations. BJJ employs leverage, momentum, and technique as its principle components to outsmart your opponent rather than "out strength" them. This makes it accessible to people of all ages, genders, sizes, and strength levels.

We do not promote ever engaging in a "street" fight. Whether you're a white belt or a black belt, the best thing is always to avoid a dangerous situation. We are realistic, however, about that fact that some violent situations can never be avoided. For this reason, we teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for self-defense. BJJ is great for taking control from an attacker and maintaining a dominant position where you can avoid significant strikes, choke them unconscious, or otherwise disable the aggressor.

We also teach competitive BJJ, and our students regularly attend (and win) local, state, and national competitions. Similar to competitive wrestling, a Jiu-Jitsu match is timed and can be won by points, or by forcing your opponent to tap out.
