On Thursday, March 13, one of “founding fathers” of UTRGV’s physics department will share with the community the mysteries of the Universe. Since the serendipitous discovery in the late 1960s of Gamma Ray explosions occurring in the far distance places in the Universe, astronomers have acquired new information about what these explosions are and what causes them. Dr. Diaz will share the tribulations and successes in building an astronomical observatory in the Earth’s Southern Hemisphere, as well as the continued investigation into the Universe’s secrets.

Join us at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 13 in the Salon Cassia on the UTRGV Brownsville campus.
