About this Event
This March 3rd there will be beautiful lunar eclipse, or Blood Moon, that will be visible in the very early morning hours throughout the valley. What is a lunar eclipse? A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, Casting its Shadow across the lunar surface. This causes the suns light to filter through Earth's atmosphere, which scatters blue light away and blends red light onto the moon.
When can I see it and what tools do I need to see this astronomical event? The eclipse will last from 3:50 a.m. CST to 6:02 a.m. CST, but the best moment to take a look would be at 5:30 a.m. CST when the moon reaches totality. You will be able to see the eclipse with your eyes alone, however binoculars and telescopes will provide more detailed and stunning view.
