Dear faculty,

We are pleased to announce the UTRGV Grant Academy Summer Workshop Series!

Co-hosted by the Office of Research Enhancement and the College of Liberal Arts, this summer grant development workshop series is open for all UTRGV tenure and tenure-track research faculty, but it is especially designed for:

  • Researchers who haven't submitted a grant proposal before (or for whom it's been a long time!),
  • Non-STEM researchers, such as those in the humanities and fine arts, and
  • STEM researchers interested in interdisciplinary partnerships with non-STEM researchers.

Post-Workshop I: NIH Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (K23)

Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, 1:30 pm

Location/Mode: Zoom

Presented by: Dr. Lauren Yagiela, Associate Professor in the College of Medicine at Central Michigan University

Description:

Dr. Yagiela will share her experiences applying for the NIH K23 and her career trajectory leading up to that point and beyond. This talk will be of particular interest to clinician researchers, but early-career faculty and non-clinicians will also benefit from learning in general about the NIH K mechanisms, which are dedicated to Research Training and Career Development.
